A love of excellent food and top-notch customer service go hand in hand for the restaurant owners at Vaiha Oy in Mikkeli.

When the Vaiha Asema restaurant, located at the old Mikkeli train station, opened about four years ago, the only person involved was the company’s founder, head chef Teemu Kaijanen.

“I came here in the early morning to bake myself,” she recalls.

Their tireless efforts paid off, as the café, lunch restaurant, and à la carte restaurant located at the station began to gain popularity. Over the years, the business has expanded, and there are now three Vaiha restaurants: in addition to the one at the train station, there is the Vaiha Savo lunch restaurant on campus and Pormestari.

A POS system that supports expansion

Jeemly's point-of-sale solutions have been in use since the very beginning. They have been a great asset as the company has expanded, since we were able to establish a chain of stores and manage sales without having to switch point-of-sale systems.

– “Ease of use, clarity, and speed are Jeemly’s strengths in day-to-day restaurant operations,” says Anna-Kaisa Hasanen, restaurant manager and co-owner.

He points out that the cash register must be designed to promote sales. During peak hours at a lunch restaurant, the cash register system must operate reliably so that customers will return to eat there again.

“First-class food and excellent service go hand in hand here. Together, they form the complete experience we want to offer our customers,” says Hasanen.

The daily life of an entrepreneur isn't all sunshine and roses, yet every day offers a new opportunity, and challenges must be turned into strengths.

“As long as you have the passion to do what you love, it’s worth giving it a try,” Hasanen sums up.
