Confirma claims division championship in Finland’s largest esports league

Confirma’s team was crowned champion of the Kanaliiga PUBG Season in Division 2 after an impressive and determined run. This is a significant achievement in Finland’s largest corporate esports league, where hundreds of teams from different industries compete for top honors. The team’s strong collaboration and mutual trust were evident throughout the season – ultimately earning them a well-deserved championship.

Esports powered by Finland’s top companies

Kanaliiga is a Finnish esports league where corporate teams face off in various popular video games. Titles include global favorites like PUBG, CS2, Dota 2, and Rocket League. Hundreds of Finnish companies participate – ranging from small firms to global giants like Finnair, OP, CGI, and the country’s leading telecom operators.

PUBG, or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, is a tactical battle royale game where teams fight to survive in an ever-shrinking map – the goal being to be the last team standing. In competitive play, points are awarded not only for final placements but also for eliminating opponents.

Years of teamwork pay off in-game

At the heart of Confirma’s championship win is a long-established core team, built since the league’s early seasons and reinforced a few years ago with international talent from our Swedish organization. The players know each other well, and years of playing together have streamlined their performance. The current roster includes:

  • Viktor “vladdeN83” Johansson
  • Sami “sndj” Pajunen
  • Tuure “Jalokaasu” Lamberg
  • Vesa “Vesseli” Souli

– PUBG isn’t just about shooting – it’s about survival, reconnaissance, constant decision-making, and sometimes, a bit of luck. Each of us has a defined role: Viktor leads and makes most of the strategic calls. He and Sami provide the primary firepower – the go-to pair when enemies need to be taken out fast. Vesa and I focus more on support roles, both close and long-range. But above all, our goal is to stay tight as a team in every situation,Tuure explains.

Tactics, trust and firepower

The team’s cooperation has improved steadily with each season. This was the third season with the current lineup, and their synergy is now clearly showing in their gameplay. For this season, they made specific improvements to team operations, including clarifying roles and focusing on key areas of development to make gameplay more efficient.

Confirma’s squad proved to be the highest-damage team in the division. In the individual statistics, Viktor claimed the top spot in the leaderboard – becoming the season’s “frag king.” Two other team members also finished the season in the overall top ten. One unique challenge for the team is its international nature: Confirma plays using English as their in-game language – something still relatively rare in Kanaliiga.

– Before this lineup, everyone mostly played in their native language, so switching to English under pressure was a challenge at first. But season by season, our communication has improved, and now it flows almost as smoothly as in our mother tongues, Sami tells.

Next up: aiming for the Masters

With the championship secured, the team now turns its focus to the next challenge after the summer break: the Kanaliiga Masters qualifiers, where a spot in the league’s top tier is at stake. Winning the 2nd Division has boosted the team’s confidence, but the next step will demand even more preparation.

During the summer, the emphasis will be on developing individual gameplay – refining personal strengths and reaction speed, which directly impact overall team performance.

– We hope to get some time to play together after the summer, but coordinating four schedules can be tricky. Everyone will definitely keep playing when they can and look to improve individually. Most importantly, we’ll keep things fun – that’s what really matters, Tuure concludes.
